Each year, the Chicago Calligraphy Collective participates in this book fair held in downtown Chicago, in the old "Printer's Row" district. Chicago has a long history in the printing arts, and this area used to be home to some of the biggest names in printing.
CCC members volunteer their time and talent to hand-letter bookmarks for passers-by. For a mere $1, these customers get to enjoy watching seasoned scribes create beautiful bookmarks. It's such a lot of fun. This was my first experience as a volunteer, and I absolutely loved it!
Here are a few photos of some of my special CCC friends doing their thing!
